Tangled inspired dress part two!

I started the top by sewing the shell and sleeves together. I chose to not sew the pink strips to the fabric because I didn't want them to be in the gathering of the sleeve. I also made sure to carefully iron all my seams, but not over press!

When sewing small tops I leave the side seams open. It is very hard to insert a sleeve into a tiny armhole, so I then attached the sleeves to the outer shell of the garment because that is the way i designed the piece of this garment.

I did construct a inner layer of just plain white fabric. I attached it to the outer shell inside-out then flipped it right-side out. With the completion of that I then sewed the sleeves and sides of the garment closed. I hand stitched the inner layer arm hole to the outer shell.
I like to do things this way because it eliminates uneven hemming and gives it a more finished look.

When all sewing was complete I hand painted the decorative trim on the edges of the skirt and jacket. I used just a basic button hole stitch for the lacing on the jacket.
