Quilting its self is not my thing. I know how to quilt and there are generations of quilters in the family, its just not my first choice of sewing.
I have here a quilt I made of a customers favorite T's. It was important for her to have the prints on the tees to be a big focal point. So the best way to do that was to make the squares big. The squares are 10"x 10", it has a flannel backing and trim.
When quilting with knit you have be sure not to stretch the fabric cause it will distort the final measurements and the corners of the squares wont line up. I am a selective perfectionist so I have to have everything line up or ill go crazy. I don't have any special tricks to make sure seams line up, but if I have to I will use a butt load of pins to prevent any movement. That goes for sewing clothing also.
For the top stitching I just stitched around the design on the fabric, except for the squares without a design I just sewed in a square.
Note: when quilting there is always a risk of the material stretching even if its just a regular batik or broad cloth. Knit isn't a friend of machine top stitching either so if you do this for best results hand stitch.
