Fixing my saree blouse/choli

I went to India in December and January. One of the places I went to was Mayapur. Mayapur is a little place where ISKCON is located. While there in the ISKCON gates I went to a shop that was sewing gopi dresses and selling sarees. They told me they could make me a blouse but it was going to be 400 rupees. So I agreed, they measured me and this is what I got..

First of all this was very large and loose fitting. The shoulders were spaced to far apart my bra straps were showing. There was no way I could go to a temple in this, it was so large.

Here I have pinned how much and where this blouse needs to be taken in. I'm really disappointed that they used buttons also. I have never seen a saree blouse with such large buttons, or any buttons at all!

Here is the finished fit. I had to take it in four inches. I ended up stitching the center back because the shoulders were so wide. the only way to bring the shoulders closer together was to take from the center. I will now be making my own blouses, I just thought it would be nice to have a traditional and special made one. And because of those darn buttons there is puckering and a chance of a peekaboo looksy, which is also frustrating. 

The people were also very focused on how "large" I was, so I think they were too worried about how fat I was to construct the blouse in a way that would fit properly. 

So as they say if you want something done right (or as you want it done) you have to do it your self!
