Awesome kids Tinkerbell costume with painted on leafs!

So for Tinkerbell..
I drafted the bodice sloper and made my design off of that! Which I started doing by making the princess lines then cutting them in the sloper. I shaped the neckline then saved the shoulder parts I cut of to help me draft the sleeve pattern latter. On each piece of the sloper I cut, I added 10" for the length of the dress. Then I made each piece A-line and added the points.

Once each pattern piece was complete (with seam allowance) I cut, laid (in order), and sewed.
After all pieces were sewn, I then carefully ironed every seam open and nipped the curves to get rid of any pulling that was happening when the seams were open.

One of my favorite parts was painting the leaves on the dress. Client asked that the Tinkerbell dress be like the current Tinkerbell movies. She didn't want it princess'y.

For the closure on this one I used a 8" zipper. I had found the stretchy skin colored material in the tone I needed and decided to try it out.
It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to sew with. I did use my walking foot, that really helped.

I did choose to line the costume with white cotton. I like to fully encase my seams, because less threads will show and it will last longer.

Here are the girls trying them on. The sleeves on Tinkerbell are raglan and match her skin perfectly! The Tangled Rapunzel costume all so turned out pretty well.

I was worried about the fit. I had not taken their measurements, the mother just gave me a size. Which was okay with me because they are costumes and children don't have curves! Overall I am pleased with the fit and the mother is ecstatic, everyone is happy.
