So these are a little girlies pair of pants they are size 12mo and she's two but very small for her age because she was born premature.
To add length to these pants I cut a 2" strip of fabric that is double the width of the pant leg. So the ratio of gathering is 2-1.
First I let out the hem of the pants to lengthen as much as I could. then I added the gathered strip to the hem and top stitched it secure. The hem on the fabric strip is a rolled 1/4".
The finished product. The width of the added fabric can be larger or smaller depending on your needs.
