Making a pair of mens shorts with button fly from a home made pattern

sew together pockets, the facing to the lining of the pockets..

 Then sew pockets to the pants..

 and they lay like this........

 Stay stitch the pocket at the side seem and waist seem

 after both pockets are sewn on, start working on the fly by sewing the zipper shield on both sides in crotch seem...

 since this is a button fly sew button holes into extra shield..

 attach the shield with extra button holes to shield already sewn to front pant leg...

 sew both pieces of the front pant leg together at the crotch only...

 sew back pant legs together at the crotch only..

 sew together the front and back of pants at the inseam...

 Then sew the out side seems together and hem the leg..

 sew together the waist band....

 sew waist band on to pants and finish by adding buttons.
